This year we traveled to Las Vegas, NV for the world finals of monster trucks mommy said her three boys had a great time. I am not sure who the third boy is, but I think she meant daddy, but uncle Paul did visit for a little while. We took the Motor Home so that we could check another state off of daddy's list (oops, I meant our list),if you are counting that make 31!
We arrived on Tuesday and went and looked at Batman, Maximum Destruction, Scarlet Bandit and Blue Thunder. It was fun to meet some of the drivers, we got to know the crew chief for Tom Meents (the driver of Max D) a little bit and daddy spoke with some of the drivers. They almost all held me, which was cool. In the evening we would cruise what they called "the strip". I thought the lights were cool, but since it was past my bedtime I had that over-stimulated, everything is blurry look about me.
We cruised through many places. I don't get what "big" people see in it. It seems to me that the whole thing is dark and dingy. And the whole time I thought the place was on fire, there was smoke everywhere.
On Friday and Saturday we got to go meet the drivers! Well actually I got to go on Friday, but on Saturday I had to stay with Uncle Paul in parking lot in the motorhome while everyone else went and had a great time. Uncle Paul watched the final four and I slept while they got to see cool monster trucks. Mason came back to the motorhome really excited. He had new shirts, banners and even a poster. All I got was one lousy shirt. Oh well.
On Friday we saw the trucks qualify and it was cool. But, Saturday was really fun. All 24 trucks pushed it to the limit. It is the last show of the year and no one wants to go home with a truck that is in one piece. They have months instead of hours to fix them so they really turned it loose. Maximum Destruction was daddy's favorite, but he jumped too high to early and broke the back rear end of his truck in half!! Batman won a close racing competition and the new bright red Captain's Curse truck won the freestyle competition. But, we were the real winners. I can still smell the burned alcohol engines and see the smoke and hear the roar of the engines. It was really cool.
After the show we departed on a bonzai drive back to Gig Harbor. The show ended at 10:30 and then we tried to get back to Sea Tac airport by 9:30 to get daddy on a flight. Uncle Paul and daddy drove through the night and we were making great time and having a lot of fun in the motorhome. . . until daddy drove it too hard. He was driving into a very strong headwind, uphill and he didn't take his foot off the floor for an hour. Unfortunately when he had taken a belt off of the air pump thingy he didn't tighten up one of the bolts. Evidently, the bolt flew off and went into the fan, broke off the fan that went through the radiator. So, we pulled over called AAA, unhooked the tow car and drove home in that. It was quite an adventure, but daddy did make his flight and he picked up the motorhome yesterday!
