Day 70-71 - June 5-6 Grand Tetons to Oregon

We set a record for the family this morning daddy says.  Personally I prefer the nice easy mornings, not the let's get going mornings.  We did all go to bed early yesterday though after 2 big tour days in Yellowstone.  Today we woke up and hitched the car up and drove down the road.  We were only about an hour and a half from the Tetons Park.

We bought a video the day before and watched it as a family to get prepared to see the park.  It was really cool.  The mountains are unbelievably beautiful.  They are tall and pointy with snow on top.  Daddy and mommy said so anyway.  I just sat there and tried to take it all in.  Actually I whined and whined until mommy took me out.  In the parks mommy said the speed limit is a little slower and that it is much safer than at home in the zoo.  Did you catch it my first pun!  Yellowstone wide open animal range, zoo contained animals!

We got some good pics and on our way in the ranger tipped us that there would be a moose at one of the stops so mommy and daddy whipped the motorhome in and sure enough after 15 minutes a mommy moose and her young one (born 8 days ago) were about 200 yards from us.  Mommy and daddy could see it with the binoculars, but Mason and I were stuck, our camera doesn't quite zoom enough either mommy says.  So, we didn't get any cool pictures.  Daddy put the whole picture in there, see if you can find the moose (hint it is the brown spot).  *see hint below picture for extra help.

After driving through Grand Teton park we drove through Jackson Hole, Wyoming and then began the trek west.  We went over old highway 22 and daddy said it was too steep and after 3 miles at 16 miles an hour on the 10% grade he pulled over and mommy drove the car.  We also had a chance at the bottom of the hill to weigh the motorhome, we probably should have a done a before and after weigh in.  Daddy just filled it up with water so it is probably a little heavier than normal but it weighed 14,450 lbs!  That is without the car.  4650 on the front axle and 9800 on the back.  That is within 300 lbs of the max.  I guess we have a lot of stuff.  But, if you took away 25 gallons of water you would have 450 lbs less.

We drove all the way to just outside of Twin Falls, OR.  Daddy says that it is time again to change the belts.  So, Wednesday we headed to see Kim and Bob Spotts in Hood River, OR.  We had a great time with them, Mason told Bob all about Monster Trucks and Kim showed Mason the fish and all of us went out to Mexican food here in hood river.  I had tacos (later after mommy of course).  We had fun and parked our motorhome right next door to their place.

We also hope to see one of daddy's oldest friends Nelson Wingard.  He and daddy are doing something in the morning and then we are headed to the Portland area to get our car see relatives and then head home either Wednesday or Thursday and then the tour will be done :(   I would say it will be nice to be back in my own bed again, but the bath tub is all I have ever known!

Look right in the middle of the picture horizontally and slightly lower vertically to see the moose, sorry it isn't better.
