Day 6 - Monday April 3rd
Last night was somewhat interesting our heater fan makes some high pitch noises when we first fire it up, but after that it works great. Daddy may need to repair the blower before too long. Today we had one of those hurry up and go crazy, but get very little accomplished days. It feels like everyday has been that way to some degree. We have enjoyed it so far though :) Maybe that's what the family road trip is all about!!
We woke up got the tow dolly, took it and the van to get the new car (pictured above). It was a rather eventless trip, but it turned out that my Aunt knew someone who goes to church with the guy we bought the car from. He is a deacon in the Nazarene church. He was nice enough to let us park our van and dolly there for a couple of months! A guy named Matt helped us figure out how to hook it all up and even gave me the tip of throwing a bag of crushed ice down the crapper when you leave to clean it as you drive! If you want to steal it it is in Sherwood, OR. Go to the sticks and turn left. After we drove over to Vancouver and ran it through emissions and got it licensed we were well into our day. Did I mention we had a tough time getting going??
So, we went on the road from there. Daddy thinks that the new car tows great! It weighs 1900 lbs and the van and tow dolly weighed closer to 5000 lbs. It is a little cramped compared to the van, but we all fit and sometimes we can peddle to make it go faster. Mason has a good view of the monster Truck videos (only used during emergencies), I like to relax by the window and catch some naps and mommy/chief navigational officer is learning to master the state of the art navigation system we have on the computer. It includes GPS and even tracks the supermarkets and Wal-Marts! There is a nice lady on the computer who tells us when to turn. We stayed the night at our most expensive stop, but Michelle wanted and I 'needed' a shower. We will be traveling tomorrow and Wednesday our goal is to get to a park in Southern California on Wednesday where we will stay a few days. It has a golf course and everything. It is called Lake Elizabeth Family resort and we are just hoping we can get in once we get there.
Here are some pics from the road:
