Well, these days turned out to have more adventure than we thought. When we left daddy thought this leg of the journey (these three days would be boring for us) boy was/is he clueless. . .
We got up on Friday and played at the park at The Summit until noon, Mason got to ride his bicycle and play miniature golf. He really had a good morning. There was a parade in downtown San Antonio, but we decided not to go because we wanted to head east. We then ventured East and finally arrived at a little town called Hitchcock which is just South of Houston. It is also located next to a gulf of Mexico beach in Texas called Galveston. We arrived in time to take Mason to the beach, what we didn't realize is that the wind would be blowing 20 MPH or so there. But Mason didn't seem to mind he played anyway and had a great time! He rolled in the sand and even ate some sand, though he regretted that later.
The next morning we got up and let Houston know that yes "they had a problem." We went to NASA and Mason learned all about space ships and they had a five story play area for daddy to chase him through. Mason had a very good time and so did mommy and daddy. Neither of them knew a lot about Space exploration or rockets and they both said they learned a lot.
After that we hit the road, or as it turned out the road hit us. About an hour and half in our journey we heard a thud and then a thump thump in the left rear, it even woke me up. Daddy soon diagnosed we had a blown out tire after some negotiating we found a place to get it changed (actually daddy got someone out of bed) and we were on the road again. When we stopped though mommy, Mason and I were introduced to the love bug. These bugs were everywhere and you will see why they are called love bugs.
Only to run into a rare storm. The wind was blowing about 30 MPH and it was raining, it was raining more than mommy's milk when I haven't eaten in 3 hours. It was so rainy there were flood warnings throughout the 3 hours we were driving in it. Daddy said it wasn't too bad for the motorhome, because it is high up and heavy enough to plow through just about anything. But, there were probably 20 cars stuck on the side of the road at one point or another.
We finally decided to take a break and battened down the hatches at 8:00 in a Wal-Mart lake (I mean parking lot). The wind whistled and many of the locals didn't have power, but we had power and TV. We watched the news and just in case we wondered about tornados, after the storm settled we went to sleep. But, it rained all night. The next morning when we got on the ten they made us get off and daddy had to find his way around a "flooded area" on the road.
After that we drove through New Orleans. It was quite sad to see all of the damage from the hurricane and flood. We didn't look for too long, but we got a very good feel for it daddy said.
We are right now on the Beach in Florida in Pensacola. Daddy lived here on two separate occasions for about 6 months and he is showing us around, though that actually didn't take very long at all. We are going to cruise up and hit another beach and then park for the night somewhere along the panhandle of Florida.
