Day 29-30 - April 26-27
Today we got up and started driving at 6:30, mommy says that it is actually 8:30 and that we lost two hours. I told her she was crazy, I am a little guy and every hour counts and I want her to find them and get them back. She says she will get them back when we get home. I don't know if I can wait that long! But since I am up at 6:30 anyway it was actually kind of nice to have everyone get up with me!
Daddy noticed a smell of burned antifreeze on Tuesday the 25th, right as we were leaving Mesa. He tried to find the leak, but was unsuccessful. Well unfortunately right when mommy decided to drive for a tiny little bit we went over a hill. When daddy came back to check on her the temperature gauge was redlined. I have to say I am not surprised, this place Texas is even hot when it is cool. So, we pull over and put more fluid in, but daddy still couldn't find the leak. We actually ran out of water in the holding tank in the motorhome (what are the odds) and mommy had to drive in the car and get some coolant at a nearby town. Daddy says he was glad to have it back there. It eventually started leaking bad enough later in our trip that daddy was able to find the bad hose and get a new one on. If you ask me he was just too lazy to take the parts off and look closer.
Well, we eventually made it to the Caverns of Sonora, they are awesome. They are like the ones in Carlsbad in that you go underground, but everything else is different. It is a narrow walk and I almost hit my head numerous times as I was riding on mommy's belly. In this cave you can see everything VERY CLOSE up, the rooms weren't as big as Carlsbad, but they were very beautiful. It was too close of quarters for the backpack, so Mason had to either be carried or walk on his own. We will enclose some picks for your pleasure. You will notice that the last one looks, just like a butterfly, it is world famous. Daddy preached a sermon on Butterflies on Sunday.
After that we ventured to Canyon lake half way between San Antonio and Austin. It is a very nice park with called The Summit, they have a really cool pool. On Thursday the 27th we got up and visited Austin, Mason ran around the capital building and the capital lawn, while I ate lunch. He even climbed on top of a Cannon. It was a lot of fun at the capital, we even got our picture taken with "W".
Then we ventured down to San Antonio after stopping at a great BBQ place called Rudy's. They were supposed to have some of the best BBQ in Texas and neither daddy or mommy were arguing. They really liked it and Mason liked running around the old style dance hall/restaurant. They don't even use plates! You eat off a piece of paper, I was trying to tell them that the way I do it you don't have any kind of waste, but didn't have very many converts. We eventually made it down to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Daddy says the people in Texas are not great at making it easy for visitors to get around, but we did find it and it was a great walk, I let them know I was not going to ride in the car seat and instead went with mommy on the bjorn. It was pretty fun and pretty cool. We decided not to stay extra time there, they said the clouds were coming and so daddy said we were leavin!
