Mike Conan update

We are all settled in almost. . .we move in Monday and Tuesday. It looks fantastic!! We can't believe it is the same house. We will post pictures this week for all to see. I have officially become Californian and gotten a cell phone, 562-922-3151. The motorhome is the last one to convert!

Well we are back from our world finals experience. We all had a fantastic time. We hopped in the motorhome and drove 5 hours to Las Vegas. We saw a great show over the weekend all four boys had a great time and so did mommy. There are pictures here if you are interested.

We are settling into the driveway of our home in Long Beach while the remodel is finishing up. We just have the bathroom to come in and the floors to be refinished, some painting and then we put the appliances in. We should be able to move in early next week. Yeah!! Than Hotel de Conan will be open for business. Here are a few updated pictures.

Things here are going great. We just celebrated my second birthday, Grandma came over for the week to be with us. We have been working on our house, which we took possession of Saturday. Right away a group of fantastic guys from the church came and "demolished" the kitchen and downstairs bath. You can see our before pictures and our plans for the kitchen by clicking on this link. We are VERY excited about our new house. We also hooked up with an old friend of daddy's. Daddy hadn't seen him in nearly 20 years. He tracked him down and we showed up at the restaurant he worked at and had dinner! It was a great night. Daddy then recruited him to help him work on the house with him. His name is Dustin Clifford! We will post pictures later.

Grandma sent the boys a Valentine's package that they really enjoyed, we also got all of our stuff moved in. About 12 people from our new CPC showed up at our new house and helped us unpack it all. They were really fast, we had it all unpacked and stored in the garage in less than two hours!

We had our second round of visitors over the weekend! We saw our friends the Quisenberry's at Disneyland in the morning. (yes, we did buy seasons passes, don't ask what we paid daddy says). It was really fun to go on some rides with them, the boys especially liked the autopia ride!

Then in the afternoon Uncle Paul, Todd Cramer, Tom Renner and Gene Gazabat stopped by for the night on their way to MEXICO. We had a great time, they even took us out to dinner! Daddy said he liked that and thought it was quite fun to see all of them. They were our first guests from out of state in our temporary cool home. Daddy also started work and things went great. Starting on a holiday weekend may not have been the best plan, but it was a great Sunday, mommy and daddy were greatly encouraged and already love our new church. Mason and I do too by the way!

We are happy to report that our offer was accepted for our new home. It is the perfect distance from the church and only a half mile from the airport, 2 tenths of a mile to a great park, across the street from Sky Links golf course (daddy can walk to the driving range) and also 15 minutes from the beach, we couldn't be more pleased. It is a bit of a fixer upper. . .but, it was the one that really stood out to us as having great potential to raise our family. And who could argue with the area? It is in the "south of Conant" neighborhood. . . hard to pass that up, one "t" away from perfect! We have a VERY busy couple of weeks ahead, please keep praying for us! Daddy officially starts on Thursday, but he was in the office today and goes to an elder meeting tonight. . . we are living in sunset beach right on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). It is fun for now, but we are excited to get into something more permanent too!

You wouldn't believe what happened to us. We put an offer on a house on Monday and then went to find a place to stay until it closes. When we were looking into month to month rentals in the area we couldn't find anything. We found one place that was willing to work with us. But, then the coolest thing happened. We called them back and talked to someone else. They heard I was a pastor and knew of a Christian couple that owned a Vacation rental 70 steps from Sunset Beach and she called them for us. We then were able to pay them a reasonable rate to stay for 6 weeks starting February 13th through March 25th (the week after Easter). And it has a garage to store our stuff! Here is a link to our new crib. . . we may never want to leave! We continue to be amazed at the generosity of our God. It sleeps six and we only need 3, so 5 spots available anytime!

We are excited to announce that daddy preached to the congregation today and they unanimously voted to have him become their next pastor. We had a very special very cool surprise Uncle Paul and daddy's good friend Tony Omlin walked into the church at 9:00. Daddy was really happy to have the support of his brother and friend on this day!! They just flew in for church and then flew out! Not many people can say they have done that!! We also had a very special visit from Auntie Dorsey, Uncle John and Jordan on Friday night (see picture below, we went out to In and Out Burger together). So, we have been here a week and already have had most of our family and a friend come to visit!! We will definitely have a place for any and all visitors, 15-20 minutes from Disney and the Beach.

We are so thrilled and have been greeted by a lot of love that we can't wait to take to the rest of the community. Michelle and the boys are staying in California while Mike comes home to pack up on the 6th (let him know if you want to help). We have a place we like and we are planning to make an offer tomorrow. If our offer is accepted we will close in 30 days and redo the kitchen and when it is done we will move in! We are very excited about all the possibilities. Plan to come visit us, the beach is awesome and so is the area.
